Overlay vs. New Pour
Shellcrete as a Topping Overlay
The most common installation method. Applied at 5/8 to 3/4 inch thickness over an existing, structurally sound concrete slab. The existing surface is scarified to create mechanical adhesion. Ideal for resurfacing worn pool decks, upgrading existing driveways, and adding Shellcrete where demolition is not feasible.
Full New Slab
For new construction or when the existing slab is compromised. The full Shellcrete mix is poured to standard concrete depth with proper base preparation. Ideal for new construction pool decks, driveways, and large commercial hardscape projects.
